Reaching Zanzibar
By air: Zanzibar has an international airport which is served by charters and some scheduled services to Europe and other destinations. Many International Airlines fly to the larger International Airports on the mainland. The nearest are: Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Arusha (Tanzania) and Nairobi (Kenya). From these airports it’s possible to connect with a local flight to Zanzibar. Flights from Nairobi or Arusha take about one and a half hours, from Dar its only 20 min.
By sea: There are regular high speed ferries between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar they take around one and a half hours. If you are lucky enough to have your own boat contact us for advice on mooring.
Travel on Zanzibar
By Road: Unguja Lodge is 58 Km from the Airport and 62Km from Stone town. The road to the lodge is surfaced and in a reasonable state of repair. If you are driving on Zanzibar for the first time it is advisable to have a map as many of the junctions have no sign posts. To reach the lodge follow the road to Kizimkazi. To find us drive towards Kizimkazi Mkunguni and find our entrance road immediately after the first speedbump to the right
Taxi: If you contact us we can recommend a good driver with a reliable vehicle. We can arrange for a driver to meet you at the airport or collect you from a hotel.
Hire car: If you would like to explore Zanzibar on your own we can help you to arrange to hire a reliable car.
